Hierarchical Ni-Zn-BTC with enhanced psuedocapacitance effect enabling superior lithium-ion storage

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are confronted with sluggish kinetics caused by their intrinsic poor conductivity, which remains an applicable barrier when they are used as electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. A bimetallic MOF of Ni-Zn-benzenetricarboxylate (Ni-Zn-BTC) with admirable hierarchical microspherical structure composed of nanoneedles is synthesized strategically by the addition of nickel ions as the structural inductive agent. The obtained Ni-Zn-BTC delivers an attractively high reversible capacity of 1297.2 mA h g?1 after 200 cycles at a current density of 500mA g-1 with a coulombic efficiency of 98%. The enhanced pseudocapacitance contribution plays an important role in the performance promotion for electrochemical lithium storage.
