Abstract: Efficient glucose monitoring is critical for diabetes management and complication prevention. This study developed ZIF-8-Pt@MWCNTs composite to modify the working electrode of a non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensor. The ZIF-8 shell acts as molecular sieve and enrichment layer, allowing glucose to reach the Pt core and blocking interferents, reducing overpotential and improving selectivity. The sensor has a linear range of 0.1-30 mM (R2 > 0.99), geometric-area sensitivity of 9.31 μA·mM?1·cm?2, detection limit of 0.09 mM, and six-week storage stability. Interference tests show > 90% current retention with common interferents, spike recovery > 95%, > 93% retention after 7,200 s and > 90% after 24 h exposure. A portable device integrating 15×15 porous microneedle array, the sensor and printed circuit board (PCB) was constructed. The PCB converts current signal directly to glucose concentration, eliminating bulky workstations and allowing independent electrode replacement. In vivo rat monitoring over 4.5 and 12 h showed the device tracked glucose fluctuations matching a commercial glucometer, with MARD < 10% and all readings in Zone A of CEGA, indicating potential for practical use. This smart microneedle system enables painless, minimally invasive, accurate periodic glucose monitoring.
